On May 1, 1915 the last passengers boarded the Lusitania at the Cunard Pier in Manhattan. The voyage lasted until May 7, 1915 when the ship sank in only eighteen minutes after being torpedoed by a German U-boat. One of the passengers was my heroine, Miss Dora Benley, daughter of Winthrop Benley, a Pittsburgh Robber Baron. Half the passengers survived, and Dora was one of the lucky ones. She came ashore in Queenstown, Ireland like many of the real life survivors of probably the worst passenger sea disaster of all times. But she was to discover how the mysterious second explosion that rocked the ship and speeded up the sinking was due to a saboteur looking for the Lawrence maps, the key to world domination. Her father sailed to England to complete a tire deal with Sir Adolphus Ware in the south of England. Dora learns that the Ware family are the sole possessors of the much coveted maps.
